Everyone knows about companies which create one to one exact replica versions of the most popular shoes and footwear on the market but I didn’t expect my concepts would turn into something real.
In 2021 I created the CR7 “Golden Drip” Nike Mercurial Superfly 8 Elite concept for Cristiano Ronaldo to wear at EURO 2020 (In 2021). The boot pays homage to his country’s emphatic 2016 triumph where Portugal beat favourites France in the final to crown their first ever Euros title. The concept features a chrome golden effect across the soleplate and upper with a nod to his nation’s home colours at the heel.
A concept I truly loved and enjoyed making and then in pure astonishment I saw it created on an unnamed replica website seen below. The replica company has a remarkable ability to make the boots look almost exactly like the concept I created. The looks are the same but I’d imagine they’d feel nothing like the real deal on feet.
It goes to show that any great concept created may have a chance of being produced for REAL if not the real deal. I’ve had 2 or 3 more concepts which have also been made as well, so I don’t think I’ll stop designing concepts any time soon.
